Which cranes are in your fleet?
Sixteen Liebherr cranes: fourteen tower cranes (top-slewing) with capacities from 3 to 12 tonnes, jibs up to 70 m and heights up to 60 m, plus two self-erecting (bottom-slewing) cranes — the 40K and the 34K. The full fleet with technical data and scale silhouettes is on the page Fleet.
How do I know which crane suits my project?
You don’t need to know — send us three things: the heaviest load you lift and at what radius, the height of the building and the location of the site. On that basis we propose a model from the fleet that covers the job with a safety margin. If needed we visit the site before quoting. You can also try the reach on your own plot on the reach map.
What do I have to prepare before erection?
Four things: a load-bearing, clear access route for the truck and the mobile crane; a foundation built and cured to the data we supply; clear space for erection; and a power connection of adequate rating. How long does erection take?
A self-erecting crane is normally set up within one working day; a tower crane in 1–3 working days, depending on height and configuration. The date also depends on the weather — in strong wind erection is postponed for safety reasons.
Who inspects the crane after erection?
After every erection the crane is inspected and tested by an independent authorised company, which issues an inspection and test report. This is also a statutory duty — work equipment that is relocated must be tested before it is put to use at a new place of work. Work starts once the report has been issued, and on longer hires the prescribed periodic inspections are carried out as well.
Who provides the crane operator?
The operator is provided by the customer, unless the quotation says otherwise. Only a trained person holding a valid authorisation may operate the crane — site safety and the validity of insurance depend on it.
What power connection does the crane need?
It depends on the model — we supply the exact figures (power, fuses) with the quotation for the specific crane. The connection must be working from the start of erection until dismantling is completely finished.
What if the crane stops in the middle of the job?
Report the fault to us immediately, in writing (WhatsApp or e-mail is enough). We attend to faults that are ours without undue delay during normal working hours. We do not promise an immediate repair — that depends on the fault and on parts availability — but we do not drag our feet. For sites that need a priority response, a standby arrangement can be agreed separately.
Does the crane work in strong wind?
No — every model has operating limits set out in the manufacturer’s instructions. As a guide: work is normally stopped once gusts exceed ~72 km/h (20 m/s), and from about ~50 km/h onwards work proceeds with heightened caution, depending on the model and the load. Out of service the jib is left free to slew (weathervaning). That is a safety rule, not a fault. Wind can also postpone erection or dismantling. More on the page Wind and cranes.
How much notice do I have to give for dismantling?
In writing, at least 30 days in advance. Dismantling needs the same organisation as erection — transport, a mobile crane, the erection team and a weather window — so it cannot be organised properly in a few days. The hire runs until dismantling is complete.
The build is running late — can I extend the hire?
Often yes, but tell us as soon as possible, and no later than 30 days before the notified period ends. Cranes are planned ahead for the next sites, so whether we can accept an extension depends on early notice.
Can the crane be moved to another site?
Not without agreeing it with us first. Relocation means dismantling, transport and a fresh erection with a new inspection report — in practice a new hire. Get in touch and we will agree the terms.
May I let another contractor on site use the crane?
Not without our prior written consent. The reason is simple: responsibility for competent operation and for the condition of the crane must not be unclear. If several contractors are working on the project, tell us — it is easily sorted out by agreement.
Do you sell cranes and spare parts?
Yes. We sell cranes from the fleet from time to time (more than 50 so far, 30 of them in the last 4 years), and we also supply genuine Liebherr spare parts as well as quality replacements. Get in touch with the model you are interested in.
Where do you operate?
We are based in Zagreb and work on sites throughout Croatia and, by arrangement, in neighbouring countries (Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Austria). For projects outside Croatia, get in touch with the location and approximate duration — the quotation depends on distance and logistics.
